Planning to see more of Taiwan than just Taipei itself? Here are some places you can visit in Hualien!

Hualien is known for its stunning scenery consisting of deep gorges and mountains. It is also an area that holds many of Hualien’s culinary treasures including the most delicious freshly made mochi, seafood by the lake, steamed goose and dumplings.

1. Chixing Tan(七星潭)

Catch the morning sunrise here! It would be good to book a room at Hotel Bayview for a spectacular view of the sunrise.

2. Taroko Gorge(太鲁阁)

Trekking is something you will be doing here so wear your most comfortable footwear! Be in awe of the scenic view. The Taroko bridge (Cimu Bridge 慈母桥) can be seen as you trek along the way.

In Taroko Gorge, you can also visit the Swallow Grotto(燕子口) which has a magnificent view of the gorge.

3. Eternal Spring Shrine (長春寺)

Having one of the best view of the Taroko Gorge, this place is one of the most popular and picturesque point at Taroko National Park. The shrine is modelled after a Tang Dynasty temple. Natural spring water empties into the Liwu River below through the front of the shrine.

4. Hui-lan Shu Dao (洄澜薯道)
