Night markets are well embedded in the lives of Taiwanese locals. Taipei is well-known for their night markets, which open all over the city in the evening, selling a huge range of clothes and household goods, but their main attraction is the street food. With the huge amount of choices available, do remember to go on an empty stomach!
1. Guangzhou Street Night Market (艋舺夜市)
Address: Guangzhou St., Wanhua District, Taipei 108
Directions: If you stand right in front of Longshan Temple, turn to your left and Guangzhou Street night market would be right in front of you!
Opening hours: 4pm-12am
Lots of traditional food and exotic food. Pretty cheap clothing and games for all ages! Located just a walk away form Huaxi Street market.
2. Huaxi Street Tourist Night Market (华西街观光夜市)
Address: Intersection of Guangzhou Street and Huaxi Street, Wanhua District, Taipei City
Opening hours: 4pm to 12am daily
Night market selling tonic food, commodities, gourmet snacks and seafood. Whats common here is that people come for the Chinese herbal cuisine cooked with snakes, foot massage shops, as well as, health-oriented spa.
3. Shida Night Market (師大夜市)
Address: Lane 39, Shida Rd, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106
Opening hours: 6:00 PM to 1:00 AM
Has numerous shops catering to students and youth. There are less food stands here but it’s a great night market for the ladies who love to shop!
4. Ningxia Night Market (宁夏夜市)
Address:Ningxia Road, Datong District, Taipei City, Taiwan 103
Directions: Exit Zhongshan MRT station and walk straight till you reach a roundabout
Opening hours: 6pm to 12am daily
Similar to Guangzhu Street Night Market with its nostalgic atmosphere. Old school games can be found here. Forget shopping here and focus on the food. Lots of food stalls so go with an empty stomach!
5. TongHua Night Market (通化夜市)
Address: Lingjiang Street, Alley 1, Lane 4
Opening hours: 6pm to 2am daily
Closest night market to Taipei 101 that has lots of clothes, daily necessities and food. Among the mouthwatering dishes sold here, you can find甜不辣 (Taiwanese Tempura), oyster omelette, beef noodles, barbecued sausages, fried chicken feet, braised duck tongue and a lot of other food. The stall vendors here are all extremely friendly and approachable.
6. Gongguan Night Market (公館夜市)
Address: Section 3, Luosifu Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City
Opening hours: 6pm to 12am daily
This is the largest market in the South district of Taipei. There are clothing and accessory stores, bookstores, tea houses and even a movie theatre. As it is close to the National Taiwan University, prices are very reasonable.
When you are here, remember to try one of the best “大腸包小腸 (Small Sausage in Big Sausage)”, “葱蛋餅 (Scallion Egg Pancake)”,“小李豬血糕 (Little Li’s Pig’s Blood Cake)” and “Cuttlefish Vermicelli with Thick Soup”. The most popular drink in the Gongguan area is the “青蛙撞奶 (Frog Hits Milk) Bubble Milk Tea”, containing special ingredients such as dark brown sugar, tapioca and fresh milk.
7. Shilin Night Market (士林夜市)
Address: No. 101, Jihe Road, Shilin District, Taipei City
Opening hours: 5pm to 1am daily
The alleyways is filled with a variety of local, traditional and international merchandise attracting both locals and foreigners. Many of the food vendors are famous for their local flavours and are only available here. Visitors get to enjoy a plethora of local fare ranging from stir-fried squids, oyster omelette and huge chicken cutlet to shaved ice desserts, oyster mee sua and much more at very affordable prices.
Try the 王子起司馬鈴薯 (Prince Cheese Potato) and 牛魔王 pasta and steak. Both are absolutely delicious!
8. Raohe Street Night Market (饒河街觀光夜市)
Address: Raohe Street and Sec. 4, Bade Road and Fuyuan Street, Taipei City
Directions: Located just across the road from Songshan train station
Opening hours: 5pm to 12am daily
Located a stone’s throw away from 五分埔 (WuFenPu), Taipei’s largest wholesale market for clothes and accessories, and beside a magnificent landmark – Ciyou temple (慈佑宮), this night market is hard to miss. When you are here, try the pepper meat buns (福州世祖胡椒饼), 玉子烧 (omelette with toppings), pork ribs herbal stew (陈董药炖排骨) and spicy stinky tofu (下港名彭臭豆腐).
9. Lehua Night Market (樂華夜市)
Address: Yongping Road, Yonghe District, New Taipei City, Taiwan 234

This market is located quite far away from the city centre hence and is a night market for locals. Besides having a diversity of local street snacks, this market has exotic food from around the world.
