Eating outside food has always been coiled with being more unhealthy than home cooked meals due to the higher amount of oil, salt and sugar used to flavour the food. Balanced Living Cafe

This bright and airy Bukit Timah Cafe is a one-stop shop when it comes to healthy living — browse their bookstore, buy nutritious ingredients, sign up for some meditation or detoxing classes, and of course have a yummy, wholesome meal! Children are in for a treat here as there is a fabulous kids’ menu filled with things they won’t even know are good for them (wholewheat pizza for everybody!) and delicious smoothie drinks. Adults can indulge in some raw chocolate. If you happen to drop by, to try their chilled, raw soups which are perfect for cooling you down, and their coffee is not bad too!

Cedele

Although they are known for their delicious breads and cakes, there’s so much more to discover at Cedele! They serve food packed with healthy veggie-packed options,  and their tofu dishes, and stir-fried rice made with brown rice are really good.

Head here for lunch or brunch and sip on a fresh coconut juice, or enjoy a herbal tea and munch on one of their fabulously creative inventions, like “bacon” made from aubergine, or watermelon sashimi. For committed carnivores, there are also meat and fish available on the menu. Everything tastes fresh and burst with flavour!

This Chip Bee Gardens Mediterranean veggie resto is great for families. You’ll feel as though you’ve been transported to Italy or Greece as you dine al fresco on the terrace. Treat yourself to a fresh and tasty falafel salad or pasta; also, this is one place where no one will even miss meat. Staff are also really friendly and welcoming 🙂

This quirky little bistro is located at Bollywood Veggies, an organic farm out in Kranji. Plan your visit ahead so have time to walk around the farm and take part in some of the activities on offer (calling ahead to make sure you’re expected and get the scoop on what’s on is a good idea). The bistro serves up farm-fresh organic produce in its infinite variety, and is more of a ‘whatever the chef feels like cooking on the day’-type deal. Some dishes are spicy but all are finger-licking good!

There are several outlets spread around the island but the Killiney branch -light, airy and gorgeous — is definitely one of the best (make a reservation for the weekends). With a strictly vegetarian menu and run by a passionate team who truly believe that we are what we eat, there are definitely some items on the menu that less-than-committed health nuts might raise an eyebrow at. They have kids’ cooking classes, and sell dehydrated kale chips which are very addictive!

This home-grown fast food done healthy concept is a place where you can swop your fries for vegetables like broccoli. They have a very creative menu (especially the Sassy Relish) and is a fantastic option for people with dairy or egg allergies as everything is totally dairy and egg free 🙂
